Executive Mosaic is honored to present Paul Dillahay, president and CEO of NCI Information Systems, as an inductee into the 2020 edition of the Wash100 Award for focusing on improving artificial intelligence and information technology capabilities and growing NCI’s revenue and influence in the government contracting (GovCon) sector.
This marks Dillahay’s second Wash100 Award. His first Wash100 Award win came in 2017 after he was appointed NCI’s president and CEO in Nov. 2016. Since then, Dillahay has helped grow the company’s IT and engineering platform and helped secure multiple contracts to develop IT and command, control, communications, computers and intelligence implementations for federal agencies and across industry.
Most notably, Dillahay supervised a potential $269.9 million contract with DISA in Oct. 2019. Under the potential four-year prime contract, Dillahay will continue to lead NCI’s efforts to implement the latest technologies, simplify operations and improve efficiencies to help manage the Department of Defense (DoD) enterprise IT infrastructure. NCI has utilized the company’s AI framework, Shai, designed specifically for the government, throughout the contract.
“We will implement new and innovative technologies, including our NCI Shai framework, to reduce administrative burden, automate repetitive tasks and share knowledge across the enterprise that will enable our team to deliver unparalleled support to JSP customers,” Dillahay added.
NCI has continued to incorporate Shai into various government departments throughout the year. Dillahay, with NCI’s innovative solution, will leverage Shai to help HHS improve operational efficiencies and big data analytics by piloting, testing and implementing advanced technologies to transform business processes and enhance mission delivery.
Under five-year, $49 million indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract, awarded in July 2019, NCI will continue its Shai integration efforts with HHS to improve the department’s intelligent automation and artificial intelligence (IAAI) solutions and services for HHS’ Program Support Center throughout 2020.
“Over the past two years, we have gathered leaders in commercial AI as exclusive and strategic partners to enable us to scale humans and shift the workforce from low-value to high-value tasks,” Dillahay stated in regards to the contract.
Through the valuable contracts NCI has received, the company has expanded their platform, enablinging NCI to discuss their larger technological innovations. Dillahay has continuously improved NCI’s AI products since his appointment. In July 2019, he advocated for AI and IT integration within the federal government.
“When widely adopted, AI technology will significantly revolutionize how work is done in the federal workspace and allow us to ‘scale’ human action to critical thinking tasks, making the workforce more productive in the process,” Dillahay said.
He described the role AI-based platforms will play in the private sector, including remodeling fraud detection and advancing precision medicine. Dillahay also discussed the efforts launched by the White House and the Department of Defense to prioritize AI development and adoption.
Dillahay has further promoted the development of cutting-edge technology within NCI. In an exclusive interview with ExecutiveBiz in July 2019, he outlined how NCI will continue to bring value, integrate new initiatives and break into new markets throughout 2019 and into 2020.
“We’re trying to drive value for our existing customers…We’re also partnering with some of the larger integrators to serve new customers,” Dillahay said. “When you have this type of innovation, you can get in front of the market, explain the technology to customers and provide them with effective use cases. That’s going to make adoption more likely for us going forward,” he concluded.
