GDIT’s Amy Gilliland Accepts 2026 Wash100 Award

Amy Gilliland, executive vice president and president of General Dynamics Information Technology, has accepted her ninth consecutive Wash100 Award from Executive Mosaic in recognition of her leadership in advancing artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity and other technologies while expanding GDIT’s role in supporting defense, civilian and intelligence missions.

Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic and founder of the Wash100 Award, presented the honor to Gilliland during a recent visit to GDIT’s headquarters in Falls Church, Virginia.

Why Did Amy Gilliland Win the 2026 Wash100 Award?

Gilliland was recognized for driving GDIT’s investments in emerging technologies and helping align the company’s innovation strategy with evolving government priorities.

Announcing her selection, Garrettson highlighted Gilliland’s sustained leadership and GDIT’s growing role supporting mission-critical federal programs.

“Nine consecutive Wash100 Awards place Amy in a truly rare company and speak to the steady, trusted leadership she brings to GovCon. As GDIT executive vice president and president, Amy secures industry-pacing contracts in foundational technologies,” Garrettson said.

“Given Gilliland’s status as a Navy veteran, it’s fitting that GDIT is continuing to consolidate the Navy’s IT help desk while also providing intelligence analytical support services for Special Operations Command, demonstrating the company remains the Pentagon’s first choice for essential missions,” he added.

Who Is Amy Gilliland?

Gilliland has spent more than two decades with General Dynamics, including nearly 10 years at General Dynamics Information Technology, where she has championed growth centered on AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity and other emerging technologies.

She serves as EVP and president of GDIT, overseeing 26,000 technologists and services professionals operating across more than 50 countries in support of defense, civilian and intelligence missions.

Before entering the private sector, Gilliland served nearly a decade in the U.S. Navy as a surface warfare officer and public affairs officer, becoming the third woman ever to serve as a Navy brigade commander.

Advancing GDIT’s Growth Strategy

Under Gilliland’s leadership, GDIT has expanded strategic partnerships with Google Public Sector, Amazon Web Services, IonQ and Everfox while introducing new cyber and AI platforms and broadening its nationwide innovation ecosystem through laboratories, centers of excellence and the Mission Emerge Center.

The company has also secured a series of major federal modernization awards spanning defense, intelligence and civilian agencies, including a nearly $1 billion Navy contract awarded in January to modernize C5ISR systems across surface combatant ships.

As GDIT continues to support major Navy modernization efforts, military, government and industry leaders will gather at the Potomac Officers Club’s 2026 Navy Summit on Aug. 27 to examine AI, digital engineering, autonomy, cybersecurity, network modernization and other priorities shaping the future naval force.
