Why Is Carmen Krueger Winning the 2026 Wash100 Award?
Since Krueger joined Microsoft in 2025, the company has strengthened its position as a leading government contractor at the forefront of secure digital transformation, accelerating the adoption of cloud, artificial intelligence and advanced security capabilities across the federal enterprise.
With her help, Microsoft deepened its role in national defense through a landmark partnership with Lockheed Martin to develop Sanctum, a counter-unmanned aerial system platform that integrates Microsoft’s cloud and AI technologies to protect military installations and critical infrastructure. The company also secured a $170.4 million Cloud One task order to deliver Azure services supporting the Department of the Air Force’s enterprise cloud strategy through 2028, reinforcing Microsoft’s status as a backbone provider for mission-critical operations.
Microsoft drove the expansion of high-assurance AI with the release of Microsoft 365 Copilot to Government Community Cloud High, enabling agencies operating at the government’s most stringent security levels to harness AI capabilities. The company launched Dynamics 365 Contact Center in GCC to modernize customer engagement and partnered with Cyware to automate threat intelligence workflows and strengthen security operations.
At the same time, Microsoft opened a new quantum research center in Maryland’s Discovery District, unifying state and federal stakeholders around next-generation quantum computing innovation. Through these initiatives, Krueger demonstrated a clear vision for delivering secure, scalable and mission-aligned technologies that empower agencies to operate with greater speed, resilience and intelligence in an increasingly complex threat environment.
“I’m honored to be recognized on the 2026 Wash100 list alongside leaders helping shape the future of government mission delivery,” Krueger said. “This recognition reflects the innovation, dedication, and partnership of the teams I work with every day. Together, we’re committed to supporting frontier agencies and empowering our government customers with the secure, scalable solutions they need to advance their missions.”
