Andy Green Secures 8th Wash100 Award for Scaling HII Mission Technologies Into Multi-Domain Defense Powerhouse

Andy Green, executive vice president of HII and president of HII’s mission technologies division, has been named a 2026 Wash100 Award recipient — marking his eighth overall recognition and seventh consecutive win.
Green is being honored for steering HII Mission Technologies through sustained contract growth, organizational realignment and expanded integration across electronic warfare; autonomy; command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; and missile defense mission support.
The Wash100 Award recognizes leaders whose decisions, strategy and operational execution are shaping the direction of the government contracting community. The 2026 class highlights executives driving transformation across defense, intelligence and homeland security priorities.

Why Is Andy Green Winning the 2026 Wash100 Award?
Green continues to position HII Mission Technologies as a diversified technology engine supporting multi-domain operations.
Under his leadership, the division secured a position on the Missile Defense Agency’s potential 10-year, $151 billion Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense contract vehicle, strengthening HII’s role in homeland missile defense architecture and advanced systems integration.
“We’re honored to support MDA on this important SHIELD mission. It reinforces our commitment to advancing national security and protecting the homeland,” Green said following the award announcement.
In January, HII announced that the business unit was selected to compete for task orders under the Defense Microelectronics Activity’s Advanced Technology Support Program V, a potential 10-year, $25.4 billion multiple-award contract aimed at addressing electronics and software challenges across the Department of War and other federal agencies.
The division also captured a $182 million task order to provide logistics support for U.S. Air Force F-16 pilot training devices, a contract to develop an open architecture high-energy laser weapon system for the U.S. Army’s Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office, a $6.7 billion U.S. Air Force indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for electronic warfare engineering and technical services, a $3 billion DOW task order supporting logistics and ISR operations, and a $458 million DOW award to modernize communications and IT networks.
Green has emerged as a policy voice in defense acquisition reform. In an opinion piece, he urged DOW to enforce the modular open systems approach to accelerate modernization, reduce costs and prevent proprietary lock-in across major weapons systems.
He argued that open architecture standards enable continuous upgrades, faster technology insertion and improved interoperability — particularly critical for Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control initiatives.
“We’re excited to award Andy his eighth Wash100 Award — and seventh-consecutive — for ensuring HII Mission Technologies is a well-rounded technology force for the Department of War,” said Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic and founder of the Wash100 Award.
“This was demonstrated by an Army contract for a high-energy laser and a $182 million award to sustain Air Force F-16 pilot training technology. Andy became a leading voice in GovCon when he advocated for the DOW enforcing existing open architecture requirements to accelerate weapons development and slash program costs. Andy’s Wash100 is a well-deserved accolade and a reminder of his influence and respect in essential defense technologies,” Garrettson added.

Expanding Autonomy, Electronic Warfare & Spectrum Dominance
Green’s leadership has also accelerated HII’s push into autonomous and spectrum operations.
The company previously announced that its ROMULUS unmanned surface vessel prototype has reached 30 percent completion and remains on track for sea trials in 2026. Designed for sustained open-ocean autonomous operations, the AI-enabled platform integrates HII’s Odyssey autonomy software and supports ISR, strike missions and unmanned system deployment.
“ROMULUS is progressing at a pace that reflects the urgency of the mission and the strength of our partnerships,” Green said.
HII further advanced maritime autonomy through integration testing with Shield AI’s Hivemind mission autonomy software, demonstrating accelerated deployment of AI-enabled unmanned surface capabilities.
In the electronic warfare domain, Mission Technologies launched GRIMM, a spectrum dominance system engineered to detect and locate hostile communications, radar signals and other electronic threats across contested environments.
“Mission success requires a multi-domain, fully capable solution that provides the agility and precision our forces need to protect national interests worldwide, and GRIMM is delivering that capability today,” Green said.
These developments reinforce HII Mission Technologies’ positioning across directed energy, microelectronics, autonomy frameworks and multi-domain systems integration.

Green is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a degree in systems engineering. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Duke University.
Positioning Mission Technologies for the Next Phase of Defense Demand
Through contract expansion, structural realignment and advocacy for open architecture enforcement, Green continues to shape HII Mission Technologies into a flexible, innovation-driven defense technology provider.
From spectrum dominance and autonomy to missile defense and digital modernization, his leadership reflects a deliberate effort to integrate technologies across domains while aligning with DOW’s evolving priorities.
Executive Mosaic congratulates Andy Green on his 2026 Wash100 recognition and looks forward to his continued leadership at HII Mission Technologies.
