Brady currently serves as president of GDMS, a position he has held since 2019. In this capacity, he works to ensure the business unit’s operational and financial success. Previously, he served as vice president of engineering, a position he held from 2013 through 2018. In that capacity, he worked to lead thousands of engineering and technical employees worldwide. Why Did Chris Brady Win the 2026 Wash100 Award?
Brady is being honored anew with the Wash100 Award for having fostered innovation at GDMS that brought about enhanced national defense and security via key government contract awards and industry partnerships.
“Chris’ seventh consecutive Wash100 Award is an incredible milestone and a true reflection of the consistent leadership and mission impact he brings to GovCon,” Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic, commented.
“In 2025, under his guidance, General Dynamics Mission Systems captured key wins—including major contracts from the Missile Defense Agency and the Army—further strengthening critical national defense and security efforts,” added Garrettson, who is also the founder of the Wash100 Award.
“Chris has a remarkable ability to blend innovation with execution, expanding capabilities and delivering cutting-edge technologies where they matter most. His continued influence not only elevates GDMS, but also sets a high standard for excellence across the industry,” Garrettson said further.
For his part, Brady said, “General Dynamics Mission Systems proudly works in all warfighting and intelligence domains to make mission platforms smarter and secure. We continue to invest in product and capability development ahead of mission needs as we grow our positions with both government and prime customers. Our core focus remains mission innovation, affordability and speed of fielding.”
Key GDMS Contracts in 2025
With Brady’s leadership, GDMS was named an awardee under the Missile Defense Agency’s Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense, or SHIELD, contract vehicle in 2025. Potentially worth $151 billion over a period of 10 years, SHIELD aims to support the Golden Dome architecture by facilitating the acquisition of technologies underpinning layered homeland missile defense via task orders that emphasize, among other things, open systems design, model-based systems engineering and artificial intelligence.
GDMS was also named an awardee under a U.S. Army contract that seeks to extend the service life of tactical engagement simulation systems. That contract is potentially worth $921.1 million over a period of 10 years, with work expected to conclude by March 5, 2035.
The company was awarded a U.S. Navy contract as well. That contract, potentially worth $230 million if all options are exercised, covers the development, maintenance and supply of common weapon launchers, or CWL, and multi-tube weapon simulators, or MTWS. The CWL serves as the weapons launch system on U.S. and Australian navy submarines while the MTWS works to emulate the behavior of torpedo tube launched weapons.
Efforts under the contract, which will also support the AUKUS trilateral security partnership between Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States, will be led by Progeny Systems, which GDMS acquired in 2022. Commenting on the award, GDMS Vice President and General Manager of Maritime and Strategic Systems Laura Hooks said, “Progeny Systems is a trusted provider of submarine combat system capabilities. We look forward to providing the United States and our Australian and United Kingdom partners with these critical submarine warfighting and training capabilities.”
Other notable 2025 contracts include a potential $91 million U.S. Navy contract for the development and installation of hardware and software systems; a Navy contract, also worth about $91 million, for the supply of submarine-tethered expendable buoy systems; and a $49.9 million cost-plus-fixed-fee U.S. Army contract for Tactical Network Transport On-The-Move system sustainment.
Notable GDMS Industry Partnerships
2025 also saw GDMS enter into partnerships with various companies to advance defense and security priorities. Notably, GDMS signed a memorandum of understanding with BAE Systems, Raytheon Australia and Thales in November to form an AUKUS Combat Systems Collaborative Team. Its goal is to design, manufacture and integrate the combat systems for Australia’s future SSN-AUKUS nuclear-powered submarines.
In October, GDMS entered into a partnership with Locus Lock, a venture-backed, woman-owned small business specializing in software-defined Global Navigation Satellite System, or GNSS, receivers. The partnership sought to combine Locus Lock’s software-defined GNSS technology with the system integration expertise of GDMS to deploy position, navigation and timing capabilities onto U.S. Army platforms.
Earlier in the year, the company also collaborated with Sierra Space to demonstrate resilient Global Positioning System, or R-GPS, satellite technology for the U.S. Space Force. A part of the broader Space Force Quick Start program, the R-GPS initiative aims to develop smaller, more cost-effective satellites that can enhance GPS infrastructure resilience.
Commenting on the partnership, GDMS VP and Space, Cyber and Intelligence Systems General Manager Amy Johnson said at the time, “Our country needs GPS satellites with more capability and resiliency at a faster rate and we are proud to bring our mature, mission-ready and proven portfolio of capabilities to Sierra Space to help the U.S. Space Force achieve these objectives quickly.”
These partnerships, along with the aforementioned contract awards, demonstrate the contributions GDMS has made to U.S. defense as well as that of international partners — contributions made possible by innovation that is driven by the leadership exhibited by Chris Brady.
