Raytheon Intell Segment Lead Dave Wajsgras Chosen to 2016 Wash100 for Commercial Cyber Leadership

Executive Mosaic is pleased to introduce Dave Wajsgras, president of Raytheon‘s intelligence, information and services business segment into the 2016 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of influential leaders in government contracting.
The two-consecutive Wash100 selection transitioned into the leadership role at the Dulles, Va.-based segment in March 2015 after nine years as Raytheon’s chief financial officer and oversees a business that delivers reconnaissance, intelligence, surveillance, environmental and cyber platforms to government and commercial customers.
The IIS segment represented approximately one quarter of Raytheon’s total revenue for 2015.
In April 2015, the Waltham, Mass.-based defense contractor moved to combine its cyber products division with the Vista Equity Partners-owned Websense business to form a new joint venture now known as Forcepoint, which that will work to help organizations protect data networks from cyber threats.
“Commercial companies are evolving their infrastructure with cloud computing, mobility and the Internet of Things to stay competitive and, as a result, they have become more vulnerable than ever,” Wajsgras said in the original announcement.
Raytheon’s other significant acquisition move in the cyber market was its October 2015 buy of Herndon, Virginia-based network defense company Foreground Security to add new footprints in U.S. and international markets.
The company aims to spread its cyber technology portfolio across several industry segments through the acquisition, Wajsgras said then.
Also in 2015, Raytheon unveiled its SureView cybersecurity toolset that works to help commercial clients detect malware and zero-day attacks, track user activity and respond to potential cyber threats.
“The time has come for commercial customers to have the same caliber of protection that helps our traditional customers remain resilient in the cyber domain,” Wajsgras said of the SureView suite.
In the wake of the Office of Personnel Management data breach, Wajsgras told Reuters that industry and government agencies to increase their cyber defense investments to get a handle on a diverse threat environment in computer networks.
“There is a tsunami of threats that exist in the cyber domain today. It’s something that we all collectively need to take much more seriously,” he said to Reuters.
Executive Mosaic congratulates David Wajsgras and the Raytheon team for their selection to receive this award.
