HII Mission Technologies President Andy Green Accepts 2026 Wash100 Award

HII Exec Andy Green Receives Eighth Wash100 Award

Andy Green, executive vice president of HII and president of HII’s Mission Technologies division, has accepted the 2026 Wash100 Award. This marks the eighth time he has received the recognition, a testament to his continued leadership in advancing multi-domain defense capabilities and scaling mission technologies across national security programs.

Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic and founder of the Wash100, personally presented the award to Green during a visit to HII’s office.

Why Did Andy Green Win the 2026 Wash100 Award?

Green is being recognized for positioning HII Mission Technologies as a multi-domain technologies and services provider supporting defense modernization. Over the past year, HII Mission Technologies has achieved major contract wins and expanded technology integration and capabilities across electronic warfare, autonomy, and command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

Among HII Mission Technologies’ most notable achievements is a position on the Missile Defense Agency’s potential 10-year, $151 billion Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense contract vehicle, which supports homeland missile defense.

“We’re honored to support MDA on this important SHIELD mission,” Green stated about HII Mission Technologies’ inclusion in the contract vehicle. “It reinforces our commitment to advancing national security and protecting the homeland.”

The HII division will also compete for task orders under the Defense Microelectronics Activity’s Advanced Technology Support Program V, a potential $25.4 billion contract vehicle supporting electronics and software modernization across the Department of War and other federal agencies.

Additional contract awards include a $182 million task order to provide F-16 pilot training devices to the U.S. Air Force, a contract to develop an open architecture high-energy laser system for the Army, a $6.7 billion Air Force contract for electronic warfare engineering services and a $458 million award to modernize communications and IT networks for the DPW.

Beyond contracts, Green has driven innovation in autonomy and EW. HII’s ROMULUS unmanned surface vessel prototype is progressing toward sea trials. The company is also advancing its AI-enabled maritime autonomy through integration with Shield AI’s Hivemind software.

HII also introduced GRIMM, a spectrum dominance platform designed to detect and locate adversary signals in contested environments, supporting mission operations across domains.

“We’re excited to award Andy his eighth Wash100 Award — and seventh-consecutive — for ensuring HII Mission Technologies is a well-rounded technology force for the Department of War,” Garrettson said. “This was demonstrated by an Army contract for a high-energy laser and a $182 million award to sustain Air Force F-16 pilot training technology.”

“Andy became a leading voice in GovCon when he advocated for the DOW enforcing existing open architecture requirements to accelerate weapons development and slash program costs,” he added. “Andy’s Wash100 is a well-deserved accolade and a reminder of his influence and respect in essential defense technologies.”

Who Is Andy Green?

Green has led HII Mission Technologies since 2016, overseeing the division’s growth into a diversified provider of advanced defense capabilities.

He previously held leadership roles within HII, including corporate vice president of strategy and corporate development and vice president of component manufacturing at Newport News Shipbuilding. Prior to joining HII in 2011, Green held senior leadership roles in finance and capital markets. Earlier in his career, he served as a nuclear engineer and strategic weapons systems officer in the U.S. Navy.
