Walter Scott, DigitalGlobe Founder and CTO, Inducted Into 2017 Wash100 for Satellite Launch & Tech Advancement Leadership
Executive Mosaic is glad to unveil Walter Scott, founder and chief technical officer of DigitalGlobe, as an inductee into the 2017 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of influential leaders in the government contracting arena.
Scott also serves as executive vice president responsible for the Westminster, Colo.-based satellite imagery provider’s platform and services businesses and space system acquisition programs.
He led efforts to ensure completion of the WorldView-4 satellite the company launched in November 2016 to deliver high-resolution Earth imagery to commercial and government customers.
“WorldView-4 will help us continue to transform the way we see the world, and advance our mission of keeping our planet and its people safe and secure,” Scott said in a statement published in July last year.
In early December, DigitalGlobe unveiled the first public image captured by the Lockheed Martin-built satellite using imaging instruments from Harris Corp.
The Society of Satellite Professionals International has selected Scott and three other satellite industry veterans to join SSPI’s Satellite Hall of Fame in recognition of their professional achievements and contributions to advance satellite technology.
Before DigitalGlobe’s formation in 1992, Scott worked at Livermore Lawrence National Laboratory and led the development of computer-aided design tools, space-based interceptors and other space-related programs during his six-year career there.
Prior to LLNL, he served as president of Scott Consulting, a company Scott also established and specialized in Unix systems and applications.
