Microsoft’s Carmen Krueger Wins 2026 Wash100 Award

Carmen Krueger, corporate vice president of U.S. federal at Microsoft, has received the 2026 Wash100 Award in recognition of her leadership in advancing federal modernization efforts while driving corporate growth in mission-focused technologies.

Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic and founder of the Wash100 Award, presented the honor to Krueger during a recent visit to Microsoft’s office in Rosslyn, Virginia.

Why Did Carmen Krueger Win the 2026 Wash100 Award?

Krueger was selected for her leadership in expanding Microsoft’s role as a trusted provider of secure cloud, AI and cybersecurity capabilities supporting federal agencies and defense missions.

Garrettson highlighted Krueger’s impact in accelerating Microsoft Federal’s modernization initiatives and strengthening the company’s position across the GovCon landscape.

“Carmen’s first Wash100 Award is an exciting milestone that highlights the growing leadership and strong influence she brings to GovCon,” Garrettson said. “Since stepping into her role as corporate vice president of U.S. federal in 2025, Carmen has helped drive Microsoft Federal’s expanded efforts to accelerate secure AI and cloud adoption across government.”

“Her strategic vision, customer-first mindset and commitment to mission impact truly embody the Wash100 spirit and signal an incredibly bright future of leadership ahead,” he added.

Under Krueger’s leadership, Microsoft has expanded its national security and modernization efforts through several major initiatives. The company partnered with Lockheed Martin to develop Sanctum, a counter-unmanned aerial system platform. It also secured a $170.4 million Cloud One task order supporting the Department of the Air Force’s enterprise cloud strategy through 2028, reinforcing Azure’s role in mission-critical defense operations.

The company also expanded secure AI adoption across government with the release of Microsoft 365 Copilot to Government Community Cloud High environments.

Who Is Carmen Krueger?

Krueger is a U.S. Navy veteran and technology executive with more than two decades of experience spanning federal leadership, enterprise software and mission-focused modernization initiatives.

She joined Microsoft in 2025 as corporate vice president of U.S. federal, where she leads efforts supporting federal agencies’ adoption of secure cloud, AI and cybersecurity technologies.

Prior to Microsoft, Krueger held several senior leadership roles at SAP, including chief operating officer and chief business officer for North America. She also served as a director at Siebel Systems.

The Arizona State University political science graduate holds a Juris Doctor degree from the UCLA School of Law.
