CIA Director John Ratcliffe Joins Prestigious List of Wash100 Award Winners

The Wash100 Award is handed annually to government and government contracting leaders for their impact, vision and achievements. The forward-looking Wash100 list also anticipates future contributions of executives of consequence to federal missions and initiatives.

Ratcliffe Appointed as Head of the CIA
Ratcliffe was nominated to the role of director of the CIA by then President-Elect Donald Trump in November 2024. In a statement, Trump praised Ratcliffe’s loyalty and his work on exposing Russia’s alleged involvement during the 2016 elections.
“From exposing fake Russian collusion to be a Clinton campaign operation, to catching the FBI’s abuse of Civil Liberties at the FISA Court, John Ratcliffe has always been a warrior for Truth and Honesty with the American Public,” Trump said.
Ratcliffe was confirmed by the Senate in January.
On the day he was sworn in as CIA director, Ratcliffe commented, “it is the privilege of a lifetime to lead the patriotic men and women of the CIA, an agency so vital to America’s national security and one with a culture of unwavering commitment to mission. I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve President Trump again and thank him for entrusting me with this tremendous responsibility.”
Ratcliffe’s Career Before the CIA
The intelligence expert also served during President Trump’s first term. From 2020 to 2021, Ratcliffe served as director of national intelligence.
In addition to his positions as intelligence leader, Ratcliffe was also elected to represent the 4th Congressional District of Texas during the 114th, 115th and 116th Congress. He stepped back from Congress in 2020 to become DNI.
Outside of the federal government, Ratcliffe built a career as a private practice lawyer and a professor.
Ratcliffe is an experienced public servant who will bring his intelligence and leadership expertise to the CIA, ensuring that the nation is safe. For his past and future achievements, he is awarded the 2025 Wash100 Award.
