John Mengucci, president and CEO of CACI International, has accepted the 2026 Wash100 Award in recognition of his leadership in advancing national security technologies and driving sustained growth across defense, intelligence and cyber missions.
Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic, personally presented the honor to Mengucci, now a seven-time Wash100 awardee, during a visit to CACI’s office.
Why Did John Mengucci Win the 2026 Wash100 Award?
Mengucci earned his seventh Wash100 Award for guiding CACI through a period of strong financial performance, major contract wins and continued investment in mission-focused technologies aligned with national security priorities.
“Seven consecutive Wash100 Awards firmly establish John as one of the most respected leaders in GovCon,” Garrettson said. “John led CACI to an impressive 12.6 percent revenue growth in FY 2025 and $10 billion in contract awards, enormously impressive accomplishments in a year of restrained federal spending.”
“After two decades at Lockheed Martin building his reputation and honing his leadership skills, his nearly decade-and-a-half of bold decision-making at CACI has engineered the company’s enduring dominance in GovCon. Every year, CACI’s numbers and results under Mengucci are better than the last,” the Wash100 founder added.

Under Mengucci’s leadership, CACI has continued to expand its technology portfolio through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions. One key highlight is the company’s agreement to acquire ARKA Group in a $2.6 billion all-cash transaction, which reflects its focus on enhancing space-based sensing capabilities and accelerating the delivery of intelligence to warfighters.
Garrettson noted that CACI has now completed 98 mergers and acquisitions, reflecting the company’s long-term strategy of expanding its capabilities through targeted investments.
“CACI has continued to have a voracious appetite for M&A led by one of the industries leading dealmakers John Mengucci and CACI,” he stated. “At 98 deals, they are only 2 deals away from hitting the incredible milestone of 100. I wouldn’t expect a slow down anytime soon.”
CACI also secured a range of major contract awards over the past year to support defense and intelligence missions. These include a $416 million SeaPort-NxG task order to modernize Navy IT systems, a $145 million task order to provide engineering services at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and a $212 million contract to deliver high-throughput connectivity across all Space Force bases. CACI also won a $180 million communications infrastructure upgrade for Pacific Air Forces, a $437 million task order supporting U.S. Africa Command and $638 million in intelligence community contracts.
Additionally, the company has advanced key programs, such as the Navy’s Spectral electronic warfare initiative, which reached Milestone C and entered low-rate production, supporting enhanced information warfare capabilities for the fleet.
