Lauren Knausenberger, chief information officer for the Department of the Air Force, was recently presented her 2022 Wash100 Award by Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson during a visit to the Air Force’s office within the Pentagon in Washington D.C.
“A two-time winner of the Wash100, Lauren’s popularity is no surprise to those who have either met or engaged with her professionally,” commented Jim Garrettson.
Executive Mosaic recognizes Lauren Knausenberger as a two-time Wash100 Award recipient, the most prestigious and respected award in all of government contracting (GovCon), for her unwavering commitment to the Air Force’s IT improvements, modernization initiatives and digital transformation efforts in alignment with the Department of Defense’s JADC2 objectives.
“She embraces the full spectrum of the Air Force’s complex organizational tentacles reaching into cyber, space, technology portfolio investment, intelligence, cloud computing, terrestrial facilities and a myriad of interconnected areas across a $17 billion technology portfolio as well as a force of roughly 650,00 active duty and reserve airmen, civilians and air national guards,” Garrettson added.
After finishing in second place during the 2021 Wash100 voting season, Knausenberger roared back to convincingly win the 2022 Wash100 Vote Standings.
In one of the most competitive voting seasons in the prestigious nine-year history of the award, Knausenberger secured this year’s top spot by roughly 46 votes over stiff competition from fellow winners like GDIT’s Amy Gilliland and GovCon veteran Clara Conti.
Most recently, Lauren Knausenberger commented on the enterprise-wide adoption of zero trust and emphasized the seriousness of which the U.S. Air Force takes its implementation.
The service’s zero trust implementation is just one part of a broader goal to increase all domain command and control capabilities while ensuring readiness for a wide range of potential combat scenarios as adversarial threats increase.
“We are really getting our house in order when it comes to identity, software-defined wide area networks, being able to grab whatever communication signal we have from anywhere and being able to dynamically route signals,” said Knausenberger.
