Lou Von Thaer, president and CEO of Battelle, received his 2024 Wash100 Award from Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson.
The Wash100 Award annually recognizes executives with significant impact throughout the government contracting sector. Through the award, 100 influential government and industry leaders are acknowledged for spearheading innovation and meaningful change throughout the GovCon landscape.
Von Thaer was selected for his 9th Wash100 Award in recognition of his continued leadership in Battelle’s energy and environmental research initiatives. The Battelle CEO is also being acknowledged for the company’s contracting success and critical leadership team hires.
“Lou’s nearly seven-year tenure at the helm of Battelle, one of the GovCon landscape’s most powerful scientific integrators and research pioneers, has been marked by transformative growth,” said Garrettson. “Lou’s leadership in the R&D landscape is especially during a time in which the research and development ecosystem is undergoing a major transformation fueled by the competitive landscape and the country’s need for speed and capability. Lou’s infectious optimism, forged from decades of industry experience, fuels his leadership at Battelle, and it’s why he’s landed a spot on our Wash100 list for the ninth year.”
Battelle has received numerous government contracts under Von Thaer’s leadership, including the National Consensus Development and Strategic Planning for Health Care Quality Measurement contract in April and a Department of Health and Human Services contract for Project NextGen.
Prior to joining Battelle in 2017, Von Thaer was the CEO of DynCorp International and also spent time as the president of Leidos’ national security sector prior to that role.
