Why Is Steve Escaravage Winning the Wash100 Award?
Escaravage is being celebrated for driving a shift from experimentation to operational deployment of critical capabilities and expanding AI and autonomous systems adoption in the public sector.
Accelerating Defense Tech Delivery
Escaravage has emphasized shortening the path from concept to operational use by investing in in-house engineering, industrial testing and real-time collaboration with warfighters. His approach prioritizes production-ready capabilities that integrate with existing systems rather than minimum viable products that underperform outside laboratory environments.
The strategy aligns with a recent executive order emphasizing faster acquisition, increased production capacity and accountability for on-time delivery of defense capabilities.
Advancing Agentic AI & Autonomous Systems
Escaravage has pointed to agentic AI as a defining technology shaping defense operations in 2026 and beyond in a forward-looking assessment Booz Allen posted on LinkedIn in January.
“High-profile demos prove agentic systems’ prowess in fluid combat: adapting plans, reallocating resources, and commanding autonomous assets and decoys to confuse adversaries,” he stated.
To advance the company’s AI capabilities, Booz Allen collaborated with Shield AI to combine its mission engineering expertise with the Hivemind Enterprise platform to enhance uncrewed systems and support complex battlefield operations.
“Our adversaries are evolving faster than ever, and Booz Allen is building, scaling, and investing in autonomous systems to redefine how America fights and wins,” Escaravage said.
“Shield AI is pioneering AI-powered autonomy, and this partnership catalyzes the capabilities of both teams to support our nation’s no-fail missions,” he added.

Supporting Major Defense & Intelligence Contracts
Under Escaravage’s leadership, Booz Allen secured a potential $1.58 billion task order from the Defense Intelligence Agency to provide counter weapons of mass destruction intelligence and analysis support. The award strengthens the company’s role in applying advanced analytics, data science and technical expertise to safeguard national security against evolving WMD threats.
The firm also won a $743 million Air Force contract to modernize and migrate enterprise applications and support digital transformation across defense systems. In addition, Booz Allen captured a $210 million Nimbus task order from the Air Force to deliver systems engineering support for command and control, communications, computer, cybersecurity, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems and missions.
Escaravage’s team further expanded Booz Allen’s maritime footprint with a $99 million contract from the U.S. Navy Military Sealift Command to modernize wireless connectivity across the MSC fleet, enhancing secure communications for civil service mariners worldwide.
Booz Allen also secured a position on the Missile Defense Agency’s Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense, or SHIELD, contract vehicle valued at $151 billion to support the development of the Golden Dome layered homeland missile defense architecture.
The defense company was additionally awarded a spot on the $800 million National Background Investigation Services modernization blanket purchase agreement to strengthen the federal personnel vetting system and a place on the Air Force’s Automatic Test Systems Acquisition-I contract valued at $980 million for automatic test systems sustainment, reinforcing its support of critical weapons platforms.
Collectively, these awards highlight Booz Allen’s expanding role in intelligence analysis, missile defense, cyber, C5ISR and modernization of essential defense infrastructure.
