Why Is Josh Wilson Winning the 2026 Wash100 Award?
Wilson is earning his 2026 Wash100 recognition for architecting LMI’s digital evolution and stepping into the chief executive role at a pivotal moment for federal modernization. In January, he became CEO following a steady rise through enterprise technology, service line and growth leadership roles — marking the first time LMI has promoted a chief executive from within.
“A new voice is joining GovCon’s most respected ranks with Josh winning a 2026 Wash100 Award. As the new CEO at LMI, Josh brings a mission-first, data-driven approach to helping government customers tackle complex challenges through innovative solutions,” said Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic and founder of the Wash100 Award.
His extensive track record of success at LMI made him the smart choice to become the new CEO. This first Wash100 Award is an exciting acknowledgement of Josh’s fantastic work and highlights the strong momentum he’s building as he begins his tenure as CEO, with much more to come,” noted Garrettson. “Hear directly from Wilson at the Potomac Officers Club’s 2026 GovCon Executive Leadership Summit on Feb. 26.”
Wilson will join fellow industry leaders at the summit, where he will serve as a panelist during a discussion focused on executive leadership transitions and strategies for powering the next phase of enterprise growth.
Who Is Josh Wilson?
Wilson is chief executive of LMI and has been with the company for more than a decade, bringing over 15 years of defense, consulting and technology leadership experience.
Most recently, he served as president of markets, growth and technology, overseeing LMI’s growth strategy, customer portfolio and research and development investments. He previously led the digital and analytic solutions business unit — formed by combining LMI’s digital services and advanced analytics practices — and later served as executive vice president of service lines and technology, helping expand the company’s digital, analytics and mission platform capabilities.
Before joining LMI, the former U.S. Army officer worked in Deloitte’s public sector practice, specializing in analytics-driven business transformation and strategic planning. He serves on advisory boards including Armaments Research Co. and George Mason University’s Greg and Camille Baroni Center for Government Contracting. A West Point graduate in systems engineering, Wilson holds a master’s degree in engineering management from Missouri University of Science and Technology.
Driving Edge Innovation With Speed
As he begins his tenure as CEO, Wilson has outlined a clear technology vision centered on edge capabilities and hardware-software integration. In an exclusive interview with GovCon Wire, he said he wants to “double down on the movement to edge” in his first year leading the company.
“The future will be defined by technology partners who sit at the intersection of hardware and software. As we move into this next era, the talent equation expands beyond software and data science to include mechanical, electrical and systems engineers — the builders who make autonomy and edge intelligence real,” he said.
In the same interview, Wilson said LMI’s research and development investments have outpaced business development spending over the past two years, reflecting a strategy of investing ahead of government demand. “Our government partners are moving faster than ever,” he said. “They’re not looking for concept papers or ideas that they have to fund from scratch. They want day-one-ready capabilities. That’s why we put more into IRAD than into BD conversations or RFP responses—we’re investing ahead of the requirement, not reacting to it.”
Wilson added that the company is “obsessed with speed,” citing examples where LMI has moved from initial customer conversation to contract award to deploying technology to 500 users in under 45 days.
Strengthening Leadership Alignment
As Wilson assumed the CEO role, LMI announced key executive appointments, including Christen Smith as chief revenue officer, Chrissy Cocrane as senior vice president of health and civilian markets and Zaki Saleh as senior vice president of growth operations, reinforcing his emphasis on continuity and enterprise alignment during the transition.
Launching the SPECTR Sensor Mesh Platform
Wilson helped guide LMI’s acquisition of intellectual property to launch the SPECTR sensor mesh platform, designed to deliver real-time visibility and resilience across defense supply chains.
“With this full suite of capabilities, we can deliver the scale, resilience, and adaptability the Joint Force demands. SPECTR is built for the realities of modern defense logistics in a way no one else can match,” Wilson said.
Expanding Defense Modernization & Mission Platforms
As Wilson steps into the CEO position, LMI is continuing defense and modernization initiatives he helped drive in his previous growth and technology leadership roles.
In December, the company secured a position on the Missile Defense Agency’s $151 billion Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense contract vehicle supporting next-generation missile defense efforts.
SPECTR also earned “awardable” status on the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office’s Tradewinds Marketplace and was demonstrated by Air Mobility Command during Exercise Valiant Shield.
The Army has also expanded the LMI-built Army Training Information System, supporting efforts to unify training and streamline operations across the service.

A Transformational Moment in Leadership
Wilson’s recognition comes at a defining inflection point for both the executive and the organization. As CEO, he is leading LMI into its next chapter of growth, building on years of enterprise leadership in digital modernization, analytics and mission delivery.
With deep institutional knowledge and a forward-looking focus on scalable, technology-enabled solutions, Wilson represents a new generation of GovCon chief executives helping shape the next phase of federal innovation.
