Victoria Nuland, CEO of CNAS, Selected to 2018 Wash100 for Distinguished Leadership in Foreign Policy

Executive Mosaic is pleased to announce Ambassador Victoria Nuland, chief executive officer of the Center for a New American Security, has been inducted into the 2018 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of the most influential voices in the government contracting arena — for distinguished service in foreign policy and leadership forging new strategic partnerships.

Last month, Nuland moderated “U.S. Foreign Policy: A Congressional Debate” at the Munich Security Conference, a panel which consisted of U.S. congressional leaders discussing the country’s global role. She appeared on C-SPAN in September, where she addressed the ongoing Crimean territorial dispute, commenting it was a “manufactured conflict” controlled by the Kremlin. Her foreign policy insights have appeared in everything from The Washington Post to The Atlantic.

Nuland served as a U.S. diplomat for 32 years, most recently as assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs from September 2013 until January 2017 during the Obama administration. She was also a State Department spokeswoman under Secretary Hillary Clinton, as well as the U.S. ambassador to NATO during President George W. Bush’s second term. From 2010-2011, she was special envoy and chief negotiator for the Treaty on Conventional Arms Control in Europe and, from 2003-2005, was deputy national security advisor to Vice President Dick Cheney. Amb. Nuland has participated in two NATO tours in Belgium and served abroad in Russia, China and Mongolia, among others.

Nuland currently serves as a senior adviser with the Boston Consulting Group and is a Brady-Johnson distinguished practitioner in the Grand Strategy Program at Yale University. Before joining CNAS, Nuland was senior counselor at the Albright Stonebridge Group and a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution.

CNAS describes itself as a non-partisan think tank that develops “strong, pragmatic and principled national security and defense policies.” The organization hosts their inaugural Michael J. Zak Grand Strategy Lecture on March 7, featuring CNAS senior fellow Robert D. Kaplan.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Victoria Nuland and the CNAS team for receiving this award.
