Matt Desch, Iridium CEO, Chosen to Wash100 for Global SATCOM Leadership

Executive Mosaic is glad to announce Matt Desch, CEO of Iridium Communications, as the newest inductee into the Wash100 — a group of influential leaders in the government contracting industry.
He has led the McLean, Va.-based mobile satellite services company since 2006, a period that saw Iridium conduct an initial public offering in 2009 as part of its turnaround strategy and continued its push for satellite-based flight tracking services.
Iridium reported in October a 14-percent increase in its government services revenue for the third quarter of its 2014 fiscal year and an overall 7-percent jump for the company from the prior year period.
Iridium also secured an endorsement from the International Maritime Organization in 2014 to provide satellite communications for the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System.
Desch called the IMO’s decision an example of “overwhelming support for our application to provide the industry an alternative and equally capable option for GMDSS services.”
He is a former CEO of Telcordia Technologies and has served as president of Nortel Networks‘ operations in Europe and Asia.
Executive Mosaic extends its congratulations to Matt Desch and the Iridium team for their selection to receive this award.
