Greg Wenzel, EVP at Booz Allen Hamilton, Named to 2020 Wash100 for Expanding Company Revenue Through Major Contract Awards
Executive Mosaic is pleased to present Greg Wenzel, executive vice president at Booz Allen Hamilton, as an inductee into the 2020 Wash100 Award for growing the company’s revenue through securing valuable contract awards and driving Booz Allen’s modernization initiatives.
This is his second consecutive Wash100 Award. In 2018, Wenzel was named executive vice president and head of Booz Allen’s U.S. Army business after leading the company’s Strategic Innovation Group. He is currently responsible for transformation and modernization efforts to support the Army’s digital, cyber, engineering and analytics-related missions, and has continued to grow the company throughout the year.
Most notably, Wenzel helped Booz Allen secure a potential $561 million task order to provide human performance improvement support to the Army’s Systems Simulation, Software and Integration Directorate within the service’s Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation and Missile Center.
As part of the five-year award, the company will deliver holistic fitness guidance to service personnel through an athlete management tool. The platform, intended for sport performance evaluation, incorporates artificial intelligence and is designed to integrate with augmented and virtual reality technologies. The Army intends to use the tool primarily to increase warfighter readiness and leverage data science for performance-based training.
“Booz Allen is helping the Army arm the digital soldier with the latest cross-reality, artificial intelligence, and data-centric solutions to improve their physical and psychological performance as well as tactical equipment design and implementation,” said Wenzel.
The award comes after Booz Allen won a potential $152 million other transaction agreement (OTA) to develop a prototype system for business processes supporting 28,200 users around the world in May 2019. Wenzel will continue to supervise the prototyping project for the development of the service branch’s Accessions Information Environment.
The Accessions Information Environment will serve as a data-driven platform for enterprise-wide assessments in support of accessioning procedures.
“Increasing warfighter effectiveness and reducing potential loss of life require a deep understanding of the U.S. Army’s mission, expertise in the latest technologies, and access to cross-sector partnerships,” Wenzel noted.
In Nov. 2019, Booz Allen Hamilton was awarded a potential seven-year, $116 million contract to analyze potential risks and vulnerabilities in the Department of Energy information technology networks.
Work covers cyber analysis and security services such as incident monitoring and response program management, enterprise network penetration testing and critical situation response. The company plans to collect information on potential threats across DOE networks in collaboration with the greater community.
Not only has Wenzel developed cyber initiatives and development, but he has also improved the company’s expertise in new cloud initiatives. The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has negotiated with Booz Allen a sole-source contract for engineering, programmatic and technical services intended to help the Department of Defense (DoD) move forward on a cloud computing program in Oct. 2019.
DISA is asking the company to provide support services as the department aims to transition the $7.6 billion Defense Enterprise Office Solutions program from acquisition to implementation phase.
The proposed award will cover design and development, integration, modification, testing and cloud migration services to support all DoD components that utilize non-classified and secret internet protocol router networks. Other contract services are business planning, process analysis and technical writing support.
Executive Mosaic congratulates Booz Allen Hamilton and Greg Wenzel for his 2020 Wash100 Award. Wenzel’s proactive expansion initiatives and modernization efforts proves that he is a notable figure in the GovCon industry.
