Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic, Presents Ellen Lord, DoD Acquisition Chief, Her Third Wash100 Award

Jim Garrettson, founder and CEO of Executive Mosaic, presented Ellen Lord, undersecretary of defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (A&S) with the Department of Defense, with her third Wash100 Award on Thursday. 

Executive Mosaic recognizes Lord for her vision to transform the department’s acquisition policy, update F-35 program strategy and establish a Space Force. We are ecstatic to present the most coveted award in government contracting to Lord.

As Under Secretary of Defense for A&S, she is responsible to the Secretary of Defense for all matters pertaining to acquisition, developmental testing, contract administration, logistics and materiel readiness as well as installations and environment, operational energy, chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons, the acquisition workforce and the defense industrial base. 

Prior to her current position, Lord served as the president and chief executive officer of Textron Systems Corporation, a subsidiary of Textron Inc. During her tenure, she led a multi-billion dollar business with a broad range of products and services supporting defense, homeland security, aerospace, infrastructure protection, and customers around the world. 

Lord has over 30 years of experience in the defense industry, serving in a variety of capacities, including across Textron, the AAI Corporation and other organizations. She is a former vice chairman of the National Defense Industrial Association, as well as a former Director of the U.S. – India Business Council. 

She has also served on the industry steering committee for the Center for New American Security’s (CNAS) task force on “Strategy, Technology and the Global Defense Industry” and on the Board of Trustees of the U.S. Naval Institute Foundation. 

Lord earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Connecticut College and graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Master of Science degree in Chemistry.
