GovCon Expert Kevin Plexico, senior vice president of information solutions at Deltek, was presented his 2022 Wash100 Award, the most prestigious award in government contracting (GovCon), by Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson during a recent visit to the company’s office in Herndon, VA.
Executive Mosaic recognizes Kevin Plexico as a three-time Wash100 Award winner for his leadership for Deltek and GovWin as well as his drive to lead the market research for the GovCon industry. He also recognizes the latest trends and initiatives to drive federal contract opportunities for government contractors.

Most recently, Kevin Plexico wrote his latest feature article as a member of Executive Mosaic’s GovCon Expert program detailing the four key stages of the government contracting lifecycle process as well as an overview for government contractors to understand how to advance opportunities and find success in the highly competitive federal landscape.

In addition, a report from Deltek’s GovWin IQ service revealed that the government contracting sector spent more than $629 billion over the 2021 fiscal year, which is an incremental step down from 2020’s federal government contract spending but a notable increase from 2019.
The source of the data, Deltek’s GovWin IQ platform, not only tracks contract award information but also assists companies in identifying new income and project opportunities through its algorithm and interface. The program underwent several notable upgrades and enhancements in 2021.
“2021 was again a strong year for federal contracting. While overall contract spending dipped slightly compared to 2020, several departments and market segments saw a significant increase in spending, especially from within civilian agencies,” observed GovCon Expert Kevin Plexico.
