Tony Smeraglinolo, Engility CEO, Elected to Wash100 for Acquisition and Services Sector Leadership

Tony Smeraglinolo

Executive Mosaic is glad to announce Tony Smeraglinolo, president and CEO of Engility, as the newest inductee into the Wash100 — a group of influential leaders in the government contracting industry.

Smeraglinolo lead the former services group of L-3 Communications through its 2012 spinoff from L-3, where he served as executive vice president of the group and acting president of the group’s command-and-control systems and software division.

In 2014, Engility announced one of the government services market’s largest M&A deals of the year when it said it would buy TASC in a $1.1 billion all-stock transaction.

“The combination of our two complementary businesses is transformational and represents a unique opportunity to create a top-tier government services company,” Smeraglinolo said.

Smeraglinolo said at a conference last year he believes the government could view business consolidation through M&A activities as a trend that would help mission readiness.

“At the end of the day, consolidation done well should bring greater pools of capabilities together in one place for our customers,” he said.

He served two stints at L-3 before the spinoff and has also previously worked at Harris and DRS Technologies.

Executive Mosaic offers its congratulations to Tony Smeraglinolo and the Engility team for their selection to receive this award.
