Kay Kapoor, AT&T Gov’t Solutions President, Elected to Wash100 for Telecom and Mentoring Leadership

Kay-Kapoor-New

Executive Mosaic is honored to announced Kay Kapoor, president of AT&T‘s government solutions business, as the newest inductee into the Wash100 — a group of influential leaders in the government contracting industry.

Kapoor joined the telecommunications contractor in March 2013 to lead a business that works with defense, intelligence and civilian agencies in technology-related areas such as cybersecurity and cloud computing.

In 2014, the AT&T government team launched a new cloud-based data storage platform for government agencies and also landed a $275 million contract from the State Department last year to provide Internet Protocol telephony systems to U.S. embassies around the world.

Kapoor is a recipient of the American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council’s 2014 Janice K. Mendenhall Spirit of Leadership Award and spoke to ExecutiveBiz after she accepted the honor to overview how mentors helped her with her career and how she aims to continue that effort for others.

“A thirst for knowledge and a willingness to explore new ideas are the catalysts of successful mentoring relationships. The protege must drive the mentoring relationship, not the other way around,” Kapoor told ExecutiveBiz.

She is a former CEO of Accenture‘s federal government business and prior to that served as vice president and chief operating officer of Lockheed Martin‘s information systems and global solutions-civil unit.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Kay Kapoor and AT&T’s government solutions team for their selection to receive this award.
