Navy Awards Verizon Public Sector MWR Data Services Contract

The U.S. Navy is showing its commitment to technology modernization with a new task order with Verizon Public Sector.

In December, the military branch awarded Verizon’s government, education and public safety arm a $15 million task order with Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation through the Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions contract.

The new order provides voice and data services to service members stationed outside and inside the continental United States, Verizon said.

Verizon Public Sector Senior Vice President Maggie Hallbach,  4×24 member & 2023 Wash100 winner, said the task order shows the company’s commitment to helping federal agencies complete their digital transformation and its experience in providing professional services to the public sector.

The contract comes after the company secured a deal with the Department of Veterans Affairs in November to provide rural-based veterans broadband connectivity, giving them access to health care services.

The telecommunication provider also played a vital role in modernizing the Navy’s Time Division Multiplexing voice platform in 2021.
