It’s week two of our Wash100 Award popular vote recaps and the race is heating up fast. Two new players have entered the top 30, one catapulting himself to a spot just outside the top 10. Seven other awardees ascended to a higher spot over the course of the last week, rallying their fanbases to step up and show their support.
The Wash100 Award is one of the foremost markers of success in the government contracting industry. It is handed out annually by media and networking company Executive Mosaic to a class of GovCon and federal sector leaders who have left a lasting impression due to innovation, vision, reliability and several other significant factors. These winners are also who EM feels portend the most promise in the year ahead.
For the first third of each year, from January through the end of April, EM holds a popular vote contest, where readers can cast votes for their favorite recipients of the award. Don’t wait; cast your allotted 10 votes today for the candidates you feel are most deserving!
Since last Friday, the one and two spots have remained the same, with IBM’s Susan Wedge holding first place and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Charles Brown Jr. right behind her at number two. (Wedge added 118 votes during the week and Gen. Brown added 148.) However, Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks is trailing them with a close third place, up one spot from last week’s number four.
And immediately flanking Hicks is Department of the Air Force Chief Information Officer Venice Goodwine, who rose from the fifth to the fourth spot.
A new arrival, and the second biggest leap of the week, is Lt. Gen. Telita Crosland, director of the Defense Health Agency, who zoomed upward from number nine to number five. The most spots risen by someone who also appeared in last week’s top 30 goes to QinetiQ U.S. CEO Shawn Purvis, who climbed from number 19 to number 14.
Practically knocking on the door of the top 10 was Department of Veterans Affairs Chief Acquisition Officer Michael Parrish, who debuts this week at an astounding number 11. It is also Parrish’s first year receiving the honor. Keep an eye on this fledgling juggernaut!
The second popular vote top 30 first appearance came from Peraton CEO Stu Shea, a perennial Wash100 favorite. Shea arrived at a healthy number 19 and is likely on his way up the rankings as I type this.
