Mark Caylor, President of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, Named to 2023 Wash100 for Leadership in Mission-Critical Tech Development Efforts

Executive Mosaic is honored to feature Mark Caylor, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman’s mission systems sector, on the 2023 Wash100 list in recognition of his leadership in developing sensors, multidomain systems and other mission-critical technologies to support national security customers.

This recognition is Caylor’s first Wash100 win. Now in its 10th iteration, the Wash100 represents a cross-section of leaders demonstrating vision, achievement and innovation at public and private sector organizations.

Caylor leads the company’s efforts in developing and manufacturing mission-critical systems, software and hardware products in support of defense and intelligence agency customers.

He oversees a Northrop business segment responsible for the development of sensors, electronic warfare, secure networking and processing systems meant to help military customers carry out missions across all domains.

In September 2022, Northrop launched its Maryland Space Assembly and Test 2 facility at its campus in Baltimore to provide a digitally integrated manufacturing and testing hub to support its space payload and ground systems capabilities and meet the needs of customers. The 55,000-square-foot MSATS2 facility comes with a thermal vacuum chamber designed to enable engineers to subject space payloads through extreme conditions of space.

Caylor joined fellow Wash100 awardee Roshan Roeder, VP and general manager of airborne multifunction sensors at Northrop’s mission systems business, and other company executives in unveiling the new facility.

In 2022, Caylor was named to The Daily Record’s Power 30 Business List of leaders within Maryland's business environment. As part of this recognition, he talked about the importance of his role and the mentors who had the most influence on his career.

The most important thing I do is giving our incredible, diverse team members the guidance, resources and support they need to excel in what they do at every level of the organization, enabling us to collectively push the boundaries of possible,” Caylor told the publication.

Caylor has been with Northrop since 2002 and held roles of increasing responsibility, including corporate VP and president of enterprise services, chief strategy officer and treasurer responsible for the defense contractor’s capital structure management.

He has a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in aeronautics and astronautics from the California Institute of Technology.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Mark Caylor and the Northrop Grumman organization on their selection to receive the 2023 Wash100 award. Show support for your favorite awardees through our online voting platform at Wash100.com. The voting period runs until April 28.
