Gen. Chance Saltzman, USSF Chief of Space Operations, Selected to 2023 Wash100 for Stewarding Tech-Driven Space Domain Security

Executive Mosaic is honored to announce Gen. Chance Saltzman, chief of space operations at the U.S. Space Force, as an inductee into the 10th edition of the Wash100 — an esteemed group of executives and officials with influence in the government contracting sector.

His selection to this year’s prestigious class of influential GovCon figures is in recognition of his leadership over the Space Force and its enhanced focus on building operational advantage in space through military innovation and workforce development.

Saltzman was nominated to the Space Force’s highest-ranking military position in July 2022 with Senate confirmation in September. He succeded the now-retired Gen. John “Jay” Raymond, a previous Wash100 Award recipient, on Nov. 2 and became the second uniformed officer to assume leadership of USSF since the service branch was formed in late 2019.

Nearly three weeks into 2023, Saltzman released his first commander’s note outlining three lines of effort he believes are vital for the success of USSF: fielding combat-ready forces; amplifying the Guardian spirit; and partnering to win.

The general’s partnership strategy involves eliminating barriers to collaboration and forging deeper relationships with the commercial sector.

“Foreign exchanges, deployments to industry, university partnerships, reverse industry days, security cooperation initiatives, and shared PME opportunities are examples of the initiatives we will pursue under this LOE,” Saltzman wrote.

Prior to his current role, Saltzman was deputy chief of space operations for operations, cyber and nuclear at the USSF headquarters in Washington, D.C. He was the first Air Force general officer who transitioned and achieved the rank of lieutenant general at USSF in August 2020.

His notable awards and decorations in the military include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit and the Joint Service Achievement Medal.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Gen. Chance Saltzman and the entire USSF organization for their selection to receive this award. Show your support for GovCon leaders at Wash100.com as part of this year’s Popular Vote competition. The voting period runs until April 28.
