DCSA’s William Lietzau Decorated With 2023 Wash100 Award

Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency Director William Lietzau received his 2023 Wash100 Award from Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson during a recent visit to DCSA headquarters.

This marks Lietzau’s first Wash100 recognition, which he earned through his outstanding demonstration of leadership in reforming the country’s vetting processes and improving background investigation work that helps to keep the nation secure against threats.

During his time thus far at DCSA, Lietzau has spearheaded the governmentwide “Trusted Workforce 2.0” initiative that calls for establishing an end-to-end IT system and a continuous vetting model.

Prior to his current role, which he assumed in March 2020, Lietzau was the director of the Department of Defense’s Personnel Vetting Transformation Office, and he was instrumental in transitioning the National Background Investigations Bureau from the Office of Personnel Management to the DOD.
