SVP, National Security & Intelligence
Executive Mosaic is honored to announce Roger Mason, senior vice president for national security and intelligence at Noblis, as an inductee into the 2017 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of the most influential voices in the government contracting arena.
Mason has led Noblis’ national security programs since he returned to the nonprofit research company in 2014 after working in the intelligence community for five years.
Part of his current duties at Noblis includes management and oversight of the Noblis ESI subsidiary that works with the IC on various efforts.
Among the concerns in the community as well as the private sector is the shortage of skilled professionals in the field of cybersecurity.
Mason has stated that both government and businesses should explore in-career training initiatives and education programs to enable future cyber workers to explore potential career paths.
“Post-college training requires a mixture of applied development and on-the-job skills in order to make a difference,” he told ExecutiveBiz following his appearance at the International Conference on Cyber Security in July 2016.
Mason noted that a cyber threat analyst tradecraft should be established to support network monitoring and defense and gain understanding on both the larger threat environment and the patterns, trends and motivations of particular attacks.
His career includes service as the Office of the Director of National Intelligence‘s first assistant director for systems and resource analyses from 2009 to 2014.
Prior to that, Mason held roles that included vice president of Noblis’ NSI mission area, a director post at the Institute for Defense Analyses, as well as general manager and chief engineer for General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) applied systems group.
He also sits on the U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation’s board of directors, where he serves a three-year term through 2019.
Executive Mosaic congratulates Roger Mason and the Noblis team for their selection to receive this award.
